Rock Royalty Roger @ The Bay

The Who frontman Roger Daltrey came to the Coast on 1 August, 2015 for a special Whitley Bay Film Festival 40th Anniversary screening of Tommy, the classic Ken Russell-directed all-star extravaganza.

The event at the town’s Playhouse Theatre also included an exclusive Q&A session with the star of the film, hosted by fountain of knowledge Chris Phipps. The proceedings were introduced by none other than Whitley Bay Film Festival patron Ian La Frenais.

Tyne Idols also hosted an after show party fundraiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust which took place at Whitley Bay’s Avalon Bar with local Who tribute band, The Whodlums.

Apparently it did not end there either… there were tales of a secret jam session in a North Shields eaterie which Roger was accompanied by the illustrious Bertie Forster on spoons and Johnny 'Blue Hat' Davis on sax. Well.
