Tyne Idols’ latest exciting tour pays tribute to one of the North East’s most loved comedians.
The Bobby Thompson “Little Waster” Tour is guaranteed to make people smile with nostalgia and the familiar catalogue of jokes from one of the region’s funniest sons.
The tour will visit two very interesting venues with connections to Bobby and we will be up close and personal with some of Bobby’s original costumes and props.
Bobby would play to packed houses and the tour gives an opportunity to take part in a game of bingo in a social club that Bobby regularly performed.
Hosted by Washington based actor Peter Peverley who accurately plays The Little Waster in his popular one-man tribute show, playing to full houses at Newcastle Theatre Royal.
This tour will entertain and educate you on the life of the late comedian.
Originally a pitman, Bobby found talent on the social club comedy circuit and his trademark old jumper and flat cap made him memorable and recognisable throughout the north east. His jokes were simple but effective and particularly scathing towards his mother in law.
Like a lot of comedians however, the smiles and laughter were a shield for darker issues. Bobby was a gambler and owed the taxman a fortune when he died in 1988.
Pete Peverley is looking forward to the tour:
“Bobby has played a major part in my life both from an unlikely comedy role model but also as his life has inspired my one man show about him. The tour on board Tyne Idols’ 1980s yellow double decker bus will see passengers tour go on a personal journey through the hot spots, locations and the places that have inspired him and myself too.”
